When Ali was 12 years old, his bicycle was stolen and he became so enraged, wanting to find and beat the thief - that was a beginning of his amazing boxing career.

Yes, it’s true Ali was in love with himself, but unlike the mythical Narcissus, who fell in love with his own reflection in the water and died of starvation because he was unable to pull himself away, Muhammad Ali was always able to back up his words and stay true to himself. He was fearless not only in the ring but outside and was never afraid to speak his mind.

Just wanted to post here some of my favourite quotes by Ali. You can read more quotes on BBC Sport’s site.

I’m so fast that last night I turned off the light switch in my hotel room and got into bed before the room was dark.

And don’t you just love what Ali said about playing golf:

I’m the best. I just haven’t played yet.

And finally, this fine piece of wisdom:

A man who views the world the same at 50 as he did at 20 has wasted 30 years of his life.
